As long as the can is not dented, rust should be fine on the outside. The can may have gotten wet somehow? None of mine had rust last time that I noticed.

I bought this last time when there was a high value coupon for this and one thing I’ve noticed is that the top part of the can had rust and not just one can but most of them. Nevertheless I got 2 for free and they tasted good.
