As a busy blogging, home schooling mom and wife, life rarely slows down around here. If you are like me, you are constantly looking for ways to spend less time doing the job. If you are looking for some extra time-saving, money-saving practical tips then you’ll want to visit every Tuesday where I have partnered with Good Deal Mama, Jessica’s Coupons, and Rose Knows Coupons (AKA: The Tipsters!) to share our own individual tips that will either help you save time or money, or hopefully even both!
Today’s tip is brought to you by Janel and its how to save you money on pre-bagged sliced apples! They are great for throwing in kids lunches or after sports but can get really expensive! Here is how to make your own:
What you will need:
- Apples
- Apple Corer and Slicer {not necessary but definitely makes it easier!}
- Lemon {for every cup of water you will need 1 tablespoon of Lemon juice}
- Water
- Sandwich Baggies
- First wash and slice all your apples.
- Throw them into a bowl large enough that the water can cover them
- Fill the bowl with enough water to cover the apples. For every cup of water you will need 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
- Let them soak for 5 minutes in the lemon water solution
- Bag them up while removing as much air as you can. Oxygen is what makes the apples brown!
Your sliced apples should keep without browning for up to one week when kept in the fridge!

Fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing! My daughter works and goes to school, which means most meals are packed. She wanted to slice her apple the other day but wasn’t excited about pouring lemon juice on it (which is the only idea I had for her). She’ll be thrilled when I tell her this tip! Thanks again!
