Kroger has a new cold-pressed juice on the shelves and for two weeks we are going to be able to try them on sale for just $2.50. Zico Coco-Lixers is the first-of-its-kind beverage to use organic coconut water as a base – which is naturally low in sugar and calories and loaded with electrolytes, and delivers a fresh, smooth drinking experience – combined with the nutrient density and greens-in-a-bottle goodness of cold-pressed juice in one convenient package.
The three flavors (and geniously named) are: For Lemon’s Sake (organic coconut water, lemon juice, pineapple juice, ginger and turmeric); Unbe-leaf-able (coconut water, cucumber, celery, kale, spinach, lemon, parsley and ginger); and Turn Up the Beet (coconut water, carrot, blueberry, apple, beet, lemon and baobob). I make a green drink almost daily but I was eager to give the unbe-leaf-able a try. The taste of this drink in comparison to the drink I make at home. I am glad to report that it’s almost exactly the same and at $2.50, very comparable to the price I pay for my organic fruits and vegetables and best yet, I didn’t have to clean up any dirty machines!
