The people have spoken and Ibotta listened!! They just updated the policy (again) to state that only SOME offers cannot be combined with other rebates and coupons. WHAT!? Here’s what the new Ibotta FAQ section now states:
Can I use coupons or other promotions with Ibotta offers?
Some Ibotta offers have restrictions which would not allow them to be combined with:
Manufacturer coupons
Paper coupons
Digital coupon codes
Retailer digital rewards
… among others. It is important to always check the offer details to understand the specific exclusions or restrictions for that offer.
You can view the entire statement HERE.
With that being said, please pay CLOSE attention to the individual rebates as you load them to your account because there are still many that state that they cannot be combined with other offers. I noticed these popping up last week.
Here are two examples of offers you CAN and CANNOT combine with other offers:
Just the day before it said this (in case you missed it):
Can I use coupons or other promotions with Ibotta offers?
No. Ibotta offers available in-store and online cannot be combined with other discounts including:
Manufacturer coupons
Paper coupons
Digital coupon codes
Retailer digital rewards
In-store shopping offers won’t be redeemed if another coupon or reward promotion is applied to that item. Similarly, Online Shopping offers usually cannot be combined with promotional codes, discount codes, coupon codes, or additional retailer coupons and promotions. Store-run sales promotions on discounted items are not considered an exclusion for Ibotta offer redemption.

While this is a super disappointing policy update, couponing has gone through so many ebbs and flows over the years that things like this are to be expected. In the past, we had double (and sometimes triple) coupons. When that went away, rebate apps like Ibotta started popping up everywhere and that enabled us to basically get those double coupons back when stacked with other coupons and/or rebates. Who knows what the future will hold, but we’ll keep bringing you all the best Kroger deals and hope for better things to come.
Feel free to voice your thoughts in the comments.
Thank you to everyone who emailed and commented regarding this update.

Still think I’m taking off Ibotta

I’m about to be done with iBotta. Between the hoops you sometimes have to jump through to receive earned rebates, and now this policy, it won’t be worth it.
Cara
Since Kroger has so many of their sale items as coupons you have to clip in advance, none of those would qualify for an ibotta rebate, correct? It stinks that Kroger does their sales that way since it will really limit what rebates will be accepted.
Chris
Sounds like Ibotta is about to go out of business.
fa
if that’s the case why use Ibotta
Jessica
Ibotta is horrible. The last 4 transactions to Kroger 3 were refused saying they couldn’t read the receipt. I’m out $64.25 and they do NOT care
JJ
It’s a bummer but totally understandable. Thankful for all the deals.
Jody
I never remember what I load on my card. I guess I won’t be using Ibotta as much.
Tim
I don’t pay enough attention to whether a Kroger coupon is applied as well when I buy an Ibotta deal item so I guess I will see what they do when I do double up by accident. If they make it too difficult to use their App I just won’t bother. The amount of good coupons besides those of beer and liquor has really gone down lately.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this. It’s the first place I’ve read that Ibotta has changed its policy. It really is an unfortunate change. If there’s some way to post a link to this page near the top of the Kroger Krazy website, that might be a good idea for now as it is such a big change.
I wonder how quickly Ibotta’s system will be able catch the use of Ibotta with coupons. Surely they’ve already written some code for this. However, it will be interesting to see whether Ibotta can catch all of the coupons or just certain types in the near future. If anybody learns of a place that’s trying to track when different coupons stop working that could be great information. It could be that certain types of coupons (manufacturer vs. store, etc.) or coupons from certain stores (Kroger vs. Meijer, etc.) will be caught earlier than others.
Deb
Well then bye bye Ibotta.
Becky
I wonder if there’s a hard stop date. So far the combinations are still working for me.
Eric
If this is true, I am deleting the iBotta app. I don’t buy name brand stuff unless there is a Fry’s coupon and IBOTTA.
Kim
I have a feeling the computers won’t be checking that closely.
