I did this yesterday with 4 boxes of cheerios and a box of lucky charms. Kroger said I could use paper coupons since they are manufacture coupons and the digital one is a “store” coupon so I got 5 boxes of cereal for $3!! I had 2 50 cents off original cheerio boxes coupons and 1 $1 off your purchase of two GM cereal. So 4 coupons to go with the digital if that makes sense. Thanks Kroger Krazy!

Did 5 boxes of the Nature Valley Bars (no coupons for cereal)
Took them down to $1.99 each on first scan.
Coupon knocked off $7.50 (1.5 per)
Added in a unneeded Yoplait just in case $1.99 * 5 left me pennies short of the $10 Cat tier.
Got zip, zilch, zero. Just the sale price. I’d seen talk that Cat only “sees” register pricing, its not set up to do the complicated calculus of reg price v. store price v. couponed price.
I had to stay up all night to get in on the deal as soon as they opened as my Kroger is ultra spotty on stocking, likely doubly bad b/c I had to go for the bars (which were breakfast dealed last week) instead of the cereals.
No sense in going to customer service as Cat is its own entity (as has been suggested) and it took 5 minutes in an empty self-checkout line to get the “attendant will be here shortly” to actually come true.
Hi all. I work for Kroger. These are considered “flash sales” seems to be a weekly thing. It’s a one day only thing because our warehouses wouldn’t be able to keep up with a week long sale this good. Most stores should have ordered plenty of inventory for this sale. It is for Saturday 7-22 only. Since it is a store coupon not a manufacturer coupon it is a one time thing. load it to your Kroger card and once you use it it will disappear.
I miss double coupons! Oh the days of free cereal.

This is the coupon I loaded. BUT… It says “expires in 2 days” and when I print out my coupon list it is shown as “Expires 07/21/2017”. So it literally says it CANNOT be used BOTH after 7/21 and before 7/22, each in a different place.
Arthur, I just downloaded it to my app and the date says 7/22. Maybe you downloaded the wrong coupon? Check again.
The digital coupon you reference (for $1.50 off 1 Nature Valley, Fiber One, etc.) has an expiration date of 7/21. So it CANNOT be used on Saturday, 7/22.

Not sure you are right. 5x coupons are store coupons. It is mfg digital coupons that affect the printing of Catalinas…do you know for sure that digital store coupons work the same way? (Make sure to click on all additional digital qs for GM cereal and Nature Valley bars because they should come off at the same time as the GM store coupon.)
I would really love some follow-up on this post. Other’s experiences have mirrored this but after so many (expensive) Catalina fails from here, I am unable to economically test this theory myself.
Anyone else have similar experiences or Catalina knowledge to impart to a broke college student?
The prudent thing to do is disregard the catalina and just buy 5 of the items on the digital coupon and pay .99 per item. The scenario above is $1.16 per item with the catalina (and as you and I know they are sometimes a FAIL!!). Go for the obvious in this case.
I agree with the notion that “simplicity often carries the day” but you’ll note here she seems to be getting/buying the Family sized (18oz) boxes of cereal (my store’s 99c are only small box 12oz) which offers 2 benefits:
More cereal 12 v 18oz while adding to the spend total.
I’m not over the moon about buying so much cherrios but you are HALF way (minus a penny) to the GM catalina lowest tier ($10) just doing the 5 max @ 99c.
Is the extra spend worth it? Up for the shopper to decide. But sharing knowledge so an informed decision can be made is better for all.
Also, does anyone know how similar DIGITAL coupons are chosen by the checkout system?
I have coupons with varying cents off and expiration dates but I never quite know what the heck is gonna happen at checkout. I work nights/have to shop late evenings so the staff is more bare bones and newish/unknowledgeable.
Is the $1.50/1 only valid on Saturday? I didn’t see where it said that. Wondering if we could use it now already?
