My Week in Pictures

It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Here’s what I found on my phone from this week…ENJOY! 

This week I traveled to Nashville to attend another Blogging Concentrated event. It was once again an awesome day filled with learning and motivation. If you’ve been reading for some time (or watch my videos), you know how much I love to throw around the word “awesome”, so this part of the day really spoke to me. 🙂

So, one of the main reasons I chose to attend this particular event is because of this gorgeous lady (inside and out), Jessica from Living Chic on the Cheap. Here’s our story. Jessica and I both started our blogs at around the same time about 4 1/2 years ago. We began emailing each other deals and connected IMMEDIATELY. She is one of the smartest, funniest gals I had ever “met”. We “talked” every single day. And when I say talk, I mean Facebook chat. We are bloggers afterall. #wedonttalkonthephone 🙂 I had never even heard her voice (except on videos she’s done on her site) and vice versa. So, we decided it was time to finally meet and this conference was the perfect excuse. 🙂 Let me tell you, this girl did NOT disappoint! She is all kinds of awesomeness and her southern belle accent was as sweet as I imagined. I seriously haven’t had that much fun in a long time. Now we’re both on our way home and I miss her already.

The hotel we stayed in gave us a fish. Yep.

We shopped a bit in the downtown area looking for gifts to bring back to our kids and I found this sign quite interesting. Apparently this is a problem for them? #wastemptedtoputthehaton

It wouldn’t be “my week in pictures” without a kitty picture. One of the stores we went in had this glorious cat assistant who obviously works on commission and does quite well for himself. Just look at that FACE! Mustaches on cats are just the best. #tokencatpicture

My cousin Amanda who’s a local girl, showed us how to be cool in downtown Nashville. That is one amazing city. We had delicious food, great shopping (although I did not buy any cowboy boots), live music EVERYWHERE and we of course laughed our FACES off!

I REALLLLLY hope this is a thing. I try to surround myself with as many nerds as possible. Gangsta nerd? How can THAT be bad? #termofendearment

I have NO CLUE what I was doing in my sleep, but I woke up to my phone charger completely destroyed (so I thought). Like with wires hanging out and everything. It turned out I just broke apart the 2 plastic pieces that cover the wires so I was able to fix it, but good grief! I might have to set up night cameras…this is just scary and I obviously cannot be trusted. #fixeditlikemacgyver

And finally, thank you Southwest Airlines for giving me an excuse to drink in the morning. Couldn’t let that free drink ticket go to waste, now could we? #firststepisadmittingyouhaveaproblem

It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! So, first of all I wanted to give you the update on how the pictures I had done with my sisters turned out, including what we are calling #denimconvention. The top one was us 20 years ago, and then of course the reinactment we did a couple weeks ago. Seriously – how awesome did THAT turn out!? So much fun.  Thanks again Kathy with Photography by K for bringing this to reality.

So now onto what’s happened in the last 2 weeks…well, not a ton LAST week (I’m not even sure what I did!), but this week I went down to Cincinnati for a couple of reasons. First of all, I was invited to a Kroger Bloggers event featuring their “Easy for You Seafood” complimentary service where you make a seafood choice and then the seafood clerk will season your selection and seal it in an oven bag. You then take it home with you and bake in the oven for a super convenient, no fuss, healthy meal for your family! Have any of you taken advantage of this service yet? It’s awesome. #krogerrocks #easyforyouseafood

Before the event, 2 of my favorite Kroger Krazies, Stephanie and her dad Mark came to see me.. so that was SUPER exciting to finally meet then in person! Mark had already scoured the manager’s specials before we got there. He’s a professional. Haha! Oh and #babybump. There’s me being a total tourist. I’ve been to Cincinnati a TON in the last year, AND I’ve actually stayed in this same hotel on the river, but I just cannot get enough of that view. I have a thing for those row houses and needed pictures. Of course, they never turn out, so you get a picture of me taking a picture and you’ll just have to take my word for it.  🙂 #rowhousesarecool #KatieisNOTcool I also had a meeting with i-wireless, which I plan to tell you SO MUCH more about in the coming weeks so stay tuned for that awesome-ness as well. #spoileralert

Once again, my friends opened their home to me because it’s a great halfway point for me. Roger slow cooked brisket for the most delish-a-ful cuban hash the next morning…Aaaaand I got to eat chips for breakfast. Yep. That’s a thing. #keepcalmandletRogerhandleit Their animals clearly love me too. Abbey just sits herself right on my lap like she owns the place (trying to work!) and Bud decided he was going to pack himself in my suitcase. I texted my daughter, Kambell that picture and she was in complete agreement that Bud needed to come home with me. #crazycatladywannabe 😀

My child. She makes me laugh, but really…should I be concerned? Grammy bought her a new Barbie, but instead of tearing out of the package…she leaves it in pinned in there then ties her up like a prisoner. #lovely And then I find this. This is what she’s drawing on the ipad. I have lost all control. #proudmommymoment

I posted this picture on my personal Facebook page as my throwback thursday (#tbt) pic and thought I’d share it here as well for those of you who don’t follow me. I was 22-ish here and worked in a real estate office with a bunch of awesome people. It was a really fun job and while I love the online interaction I get everyday NOW, I do miss talking to real life people all day. It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve done this post again because when the Mega Event comes around – it takes over my life and mega sales wait for NOBODY! #priorities

This week was all about SISTERS!! My little sister came up from Kentucky to stay with me for a couple of days and we had so much fun. We ate, drank, got massages, and then ate some more. And then we ate again. So I should probably just tell you that I am one of those people who finishes a meal and immediately starts thinking about what my next meal will be. I kid you not, I have a problem. #whoswithme?

So, here’s a fun fact. I have 4 sisters!! So since we were all in the same place at the same time (for the first time in like 8 years) we decided to take advantage of this rarity and have a photo shoot! I called up my fabulous photographer Kathy (Photography by K) who once again did an AMAZING job. Here is a sneak peak, but I will post more pictures as soon as she gets more to me. I haven’t even gotten to see many of them! Can’t wait! Oh, plus we did one of those pictures where you recreate an OLD photo. Wait until you see this. It’s HILARIOUS! I will give you a clue. #denimconvention

After our photo shoot we had dinner and drinks and laughed so hard that we were all in pain. Literal pain. It was an amazing day and I’m so grateful that we had this opportunity. We must now make it happen a LOT more often. For those of you with sisters, you know that no other relationship rivals it.  #sisters #laughedtillwecried

Last weekend, I took my girl roller skating which was another thing I haven’t done in YEARS. I LOVE to skate and was very happy I didn’t forget how and fall on my butt. 😀 What great exercise too!  #letsgetphysical

My hair dryer broke. No, this is not post worthy…but the reason I wanted to share this is because EVERY time one of my hair dryers bites the dust I am getting ready for something that I actually need to look decent for. RIGHT? And EVERY time I tell myself, go buy TWO hair dryers so that you always have a backup. Do you think I did it? Nopers. I ran over to Walgreens (sorry, Kroger…Wags is closer) and grabbed ONE hair dryer. So in a few years, I’ll be in the same situation and I’ll be complaining about it to you guys. #fairwarning

My girl made me heart shaped cheesy bread. All by herself (well, except the oven stuff). She was so proud of herself and it was actually delicious. Girl can throw down! #watchoutRachelRay

Those of you who read my old blog where I used to post a lot of online deals, will remember that I am obsessed with finding cat clothes for Kambell. Gymboree is my favorite place to shop, because they put out at least 1, sometimes 2 kitty lines every year…and then I stock up! The child is never NOT representing her love for kitties. So, anyway – I had to run into Walmart and I spotted this ADORABLE kitty dress for $6.84! I’m pretty sure there was squealing involved. Maybe a little jumping up and down. And definitely staring people. But seriously, how cute is this dress? #Iwantoneinmysize  #meow   This happened this week. I know I keep saying this, but I am so humbled and amazed and thrilled and delighted and grateful (and about 10 other adjectives that I won’t bore you with right now) to have such amazing readers who share my deals every single day and tell others about my page…to the point of gaining 10,000 new Facebook followers in JUST 8 DAYS. #crazytalk There were so many times I wanted to quit because of the HUGE time commitment running a blog like mine demands. When it comes to my blog, I’m fastidious. My personality demands perfection and I pride myself on being GREAT at my job. I love being busy. The problem with that is for the first couple of years, everything else took a backseat to my obsession. My friends and family know how many hours I put into this (I tell them it takes a special kind of crazy…lol) and now looking back…it was all leading up to this, and I am so glad that I never gave up.  I seriously LOVE Mondays because I know it’s going to be an exciting day on the blog. I love waking up every day knowing that what I have to share actually makes a difference in your lives. This past weekend I answered over 300 reader questions (between email, Facebook messages, Facebook posts, etc. from the last 2 weeks) and many of them included words of gratitude and you shared your personal stories with me. That matters. That makes all of the sacrifices worth it. So, again…A BIG FAT THANK YOU from me!  #oktimetobefunnyagain #enoughsharingmyfeelings Why all the hashtags tonight? Because I think they are hilarious. Because in my normal everyday conversation I now end my sentences with some type of hashtag for emphasis. Because sometimes it’s fun to be obnoxious. It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Are you guys still interested in seeing these? Sometimes my life is so stinkin’ boring I feel like – um. Nobody wants to see these Katie!! But I was scrolling through my phone pics tonight and found a few goodies that I thought I would share this week. Orchid update!!! It’s ALIVE!!! 🙂 Thanks to everyone who gave me orchid advice. I was sure I killed it, but it’s in full bloom again and as gorgeous as ever. I totally got sick of my boring brown and decided to go blonde this week. It was very strange looking in the mirror for the first few days, but I have since embraced it and am READY for summer! Or at least Spring. I will settle for Spring at this point. I am a complete beauty junky and LOVE trying new products. Since I think my new blonde hair looks better curly, I remembered that Ouidad totally ROCKS the curls and picked up some product. This volumizing foam is the bomb diggety and I love what it does to my curls! My 10 years younger (and WAY cooler) sister and I went shopping and as we were passing The Buckle, I said something like – “oh, my friend Kendra tells me that I need a pair of Buckle jeans.” And she stops DEAD in her tracks and is like “You’ve never owned a pair of Buckle jeans? They will change your life!!”. So of course we bee-lined into the store and let the sales clerks know I was a Buckle jeans virgin and they hooked me up with this super cute pair of jeans. Who knew jeans could be life changing? (I’m aware that this whole story is ridiculous and shallow, but I like to have fun with things, ok?) 😀

You know when your child gets really quiet and you have no idea what they’re up to, and then later you find pictures like these on your phone and you STILL have no clue? Yep. No words.

Yes, I blog from my car sometimes. I’m sorry, but Lay’s coupons will wait for NOBODY! Thank you McDonald’s parking lot wifi. And I need this shirt. But first I need an agent. But before that I need to do some more stomach crunches. So THERE’S $70 I did NOT want to spend. :/ I also do not like to get electrocuted, soooo….. This morning I hit the creamer jackpot when I found this little guy in my freezer. And here we thought eggnog season was long over. NOPERS! I will be enjoying this for a few days. 🙂

It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Last week I had a few great pictures on my phone, but YET AGAIN I lost them all. This time because I dropped my phone on the ceramic tile bathroom floor and totally shattered it. Thank goodness for phone insurance, but I REALLY need to start saving my pictures to the memory card. Who knows what I lost. HENNYwase…here’s what I found on my (NEW!) phone from this week…ENJOY! 🙂 There was definitely a recognizable THEME in many of my pictures this week. And it’s what is on everyone’s mind…ENOUGH SNOW ALREADY!! It’s like every day!! “Yep, it’s snowing again”. I think we’re all over it. Come on Mr. Groundhog! Bring us spring!!

Raise your hand if you got stuck in the snow this week!! 😀 These pictures do not tell the story very well, but they were the best I could do. I was literally documenting it JUST to share with you guys. So I totally turned too sharp and plowed right into a HUGE snow pile. Reverse. Drive. Reverse. I was NOT going anywhere. This amazing family stopped right away and tried to push me out. Nope. Not budging. But it just so happened that they had a chain to literally PULL me out, so that was a relief! I have no idea if they’ll ever see this, but thank you to Rene, Josh and Brandon for helping me! As I was shopping for a thank you card I plan on sending to them, I came to the realization that Hallmark could totally make a killing on “Thank you for pulling me out of the snow” cards! There’s a real gap in the market here and someone needs to step it up!   My nemisis. (The long hair I have to fight with every day, not my baby.) 🙂

If you’ve been reading “My Week In Pictures” from the beginning, you probably know I’m a gal who prefers dry red wine and small plates of delicious bites. However! Sometimes a girl just needs some beer and hot wings!! Way to class it up, Katie. 🙂 The other half of this picture is what I hope everyone has and that is a cousin who is also a good friend. This is my cousin Donnie who is one of my best friends still and always makes me laugh.

Kroger is going to LOVE me when I hand over these coupons that my beverage spilled all over. 😀

It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Here’s what I found on my phone from this week…ENJOY! 🙂 First of all, I’m sorry I skipped this post last week but I was KNEE deep in Mega Event deals and needed to get that list completed instead of scanning through my phone pics. That is, afterall WHAT I DO! 🙂 Sooo…the HUGE HUGE thing going on in my life this week is that my daughter Kambell started attending a private Montessori school! She is a big 2nd grader and we had previously homeschooled her, but decided to enroll her in this amazing school for many many reasons that I won’t get into here. I thought I would be so sad, but I am so very excited for her. She absolutely LOVES it and so do I! 🙂 I wish every child had this experience to be their awesome little selves while still learning. Our refrigerator broke this week. Fortunately it was just a part that  needed replacing, but we were still without it for a couple of days. Lived out of a cooler…so that was FUN! 🙂 It was cold enough that I could just put things that didn’t fit in the cooler – like my coffee creamer – right outside the backdoor and I was feeling like a real hardcore camper girl. #umhaveyoumetme? I did get to clean underneath the fridge though which is always a treat. And when you have 5 cats, there are always all kinds of goodies to be found!! And then when the freezer is empty, the “winter” Barbie’s must make themselves at home! I also included some more random Barbie pictures that somehow make it onto my phone.  I just want to wash my hands…or take a shower…and use a bowl. 😀 I didn’t have a choice, right? RIGHT??!!! Must feed my newly discovered cat shirt obsession. I did NOT buy this shirt, but I am totally regretting it because it really speaks to me. I’m sure it has something to do with running or something, but for me – I really DO love what I do and do what I love. I don’t think many people can say that, so I do consider myself lucky. I love my blog, I love the community we’ve built. I just love what I do. 🙂

Sorry Orchid People!! The Orchid has kicked the bucket! I took this picture a few days ago and these 2 last pitiful petals have since fallen off. I even did 3 ice cubes trick some of you recommended and opened the blinds for light.  Then one day I just sat there and watched flower and flower fall to the desk. If you don’t already know…I kill orchids. I need a t-shirt for that. Or at least a bumper sticker or a hashtag or something. #IkillOrchids – Let’s see if it catches on. If you have not been following the life of this poor orchid, be sure to check out this video and this one too. Wait until you see what I have planned for the next video…it won’t die!! 🙂 Behind the scenes of my Kroger Mega Event video!! Had sooooo much fun doing this one!! Once again, my friends opened their home to me and treated me like a royal princess. It’s all about the FOOD (and drink!) when I visit! 🙂 And they have an awesome cat. BONUS!

This weekend I attended a blogging conference called Blogging Concentrated in Cincinnati where I learned so much about how better to serve my readers. There was a LOT of snow, which I’m totally used to…but what I am NOT used to is trying to get my car to go up those HILLS in snow! That was rough…like my car did NOT want to GO!…but I made it safe and sound! In addition to learning lots, I also got to meet up with other bloggers who I’ve been in contact with…some of which I’ve NEVER met in person, specifically Tammy with Lady Savings (your Giant Eagle Expert!) and her husband Mr. Lady Savings. We have “chatted” online for the last 3 years or so, so it was amazing to finally get to meet her in person! She was just like I imagined = awesome!  And short, like me. 🙂 Well, those were this week’s tidbits!! How was your week? It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Here’s what I found on my phone from this week…ENJOY! 🙂 Last week, it was SNOW SNOW SNOW around here, but this past week it was all about sub-zero temperatures. I cannot remember it ever being this cold. At one point my car said it was -17. Ouch. I broke out the reinforcements!

Early this week I drove to Columbus to visit friends. Can anyone else make out the amazing rainbow I got to enjoy for almost an hour!? It was awesome. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

So while staying with my friends, I had the most amazing burger of my life, was treated like  a royal guest and laughed until my whole body hurt. But now…let’s talk about the way this toilet paper roll was hung in the guest bathroom. And now we shall take a vote. Is this the correct way, or should the toilet paper be hung the other way? 😀

The next morning I was treated to breakfast at the Starliner Diner. If you are in in the Columbus area, you MUST eat here. Don’t let the appearance fool you…an AMAZING cuban breakfast is waiting for you.

Now here’s where the day starts to go downhill. Apparently, ALL that day…I had been wearing 2 completely different boots. Like NOBODY noticed this?? REALLY!?? I was headed to Cincinnati for a Kroger event (details on that later this week) and literally had NOTHING else to wear, so I found a mall and was forced to buy new boots. Terrible, I know.

One of my favorite places to “park” myself to get some work done is Panera Bread. I PREFER Starbucks COFFEE, but Panera is just cozier. However! The thing I do NOT like about Panera, is that they have a total of like 2 outlets in the entire place. I tweeted them about this and received no reply. 🙂 So, I am always trying to make sure I get one of those spaces near an outlet, especially if I’m going to be there awhile. And the coveted corner booth (shown above) just makes the whole day better. 🙂 Well, those were this week’s tidbits!! How was your week? It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Here’s what I found on my phone from this week…ENJOY! 🙂 So the big news around here are these winter storms that are bringing us a TON of snow! Here are a few pictures that I took in the last couple of days. Not sure if they are a good protrayal of exactly how much snow we have (and it’s STILL snowing!), but it’s a LOT. I am not a snow person. I think big fat snow flakes are gorgeous, but I do not want to touch them. I would rather enjoy their beauty through a glass window. 🙂

So, then of course with severe weather comes EMPTY shelves at every grocery store in the tri-county area. Here is what I found in the Kroger bread and milk aisles. I’m sure many of you faced a similar experience. Hopefully you were able to at least get buns! Oh, and while I was there I was recognized by a reader (will never get used to that), Melanie. So shout out to Melanie!! She and her son were very cool. 🙂

And when it’s -5 degrees you will find me in bed with blankets at 4 pm. #guilty. With computer of course. 😉

What I buy at Walmart. Yesterday we got a heat wave (32 degrees!), so Kambell and I took ourselves shopping! There I am enjoying my Starbucks and Gymboree. Gymboree has the CUTEST line of kitty clothes right now. In fact, I can count on them for an adorable kitty line about twice a year. I am not even going to tell you how much I spent, but I CAN say that these clothes are so cute that I did not have a choice in matter. It will be a sad, sad day when Kambell grows out of Gymboree. So who else has one of these gas tank door thingies that you have to like literally pound on to get it to open? It is too cold for this junk. I feel like the Fonz standing there banging on my car! We ended our day with my baby reading ME a bedtime story for a change. 🙂

One last thing. If you like this song…we cannot be friends. And you’re out of the family.

So, I totally skipped out on My Week In Pictures last Sunday…but I promise I had a really good excuse. My phone TOTALLY ATE all the pictures I took!! I was so bummed. I had some goodies in there too. I will say that I did give you a video though, so hopefully that was enough to tide you over. 😀 So, this week wasn’t too exciting, but here are the pictures from my phone…ENJOY! 🙂

My week started out with me making this gingerbread house with Kambell. And when I say “me”…I mean I opened the box and gave it to her. Hey…I’m going for mother of the year here! (She did a really great job, then immediately ate some of it, which caused her to finally lose her front tooth that has been hanging on for dear life.) My work here is done.

So, if you know me…you know I LOVE cats. Like, I think they are awesome and could NOT live my life without at least one. But I prefer the 5 we have. However, somehow I have managed to stay JUST below the “crazy cat lady” status. I think I may have taken this too far today when I went out in public (YES, to the gym) in this cat shirt. I am seriously one step away from hearing the doorbell ring with the “crazy cat lady starter kit” being delivered to my door.

THEN!! I bought THIS cat shirt. WHY!?? So that makes two now. Someone may need to stage an intervention.

I spent a great deal of time setting this fancy stuff up this week! You may have noticed in my first video that I was WAY too bright and a bit out of focus, so I obviously have a LOT of tweaking to do…but I am determined to make it work! Yes, that is a cat…thinking about attacking my umbrella. And YES…that is my canned goods stockpile. And YES, that is the ugliest picture known to mankind hanging on my wall.  🙂

So you know how when you get a bag of Gardetto’s and you’re just digging for the rye chips the whole time (you know who you are)? Well, now you don’t have to.

Who else feels guilty for moving during the night because you will disturb the animals laying on your body!?! Seriously, what is wrong with us!?

This post was such a hit last week, that I will try (TRY!) to do it every Sunday night. I am having fun with it too! Here’s a look at my week in pictures!

So, my week was super busy because we took a mini vacation. My in-laws rented a house at Lake Cumberland KY and we decided to leave a day early and make a pit stop at my Dad’s house. It was wonderful getting to see everyone after WAY too long (from top left: Dad, Sister, Grandma, Cousins!). My daughter had a blast with her cousins. Wish they lived closer!

In between destinations, which was a good 3 hours, I HAD to find wifi because I hadn’t had a chance to post the Kroger matchup. Sure enough, there was a Kroger Marketplace with a Starbucks to save the day! So I parked myself there while my people went to Red Lobster. Not sure if that was fair, but I’m ok with that. 🙂

OH! Before we went on vacation we just HAD to get mani/pedis. 🙂  It is hard to tell from these pics, but the awesome lady painted these cute little snowflakes on Kambell’s nails…freehand. Amazing. Oh, I need to find a talent!! For those of you who do not appreciate looking at pictures of toes, I apologize now. 🙂

One of my goals for 2014 is to start making videos for you guys. These new toys came in the mail RIGHT before we left and I haven’t even had a chance to play with them yet!! Wahhh! What kind of videos would you like to see?

These are the cutest shoes ever in life. But why I would think it was a good idea to wear them to the mall is beyond me. Did NOT think that through.

Don’t judge, but I kind of have a thing for 90’s rap. If you drive past me and see me boppin’ my head, you’ll know why. This. Really, people? That’s just creepy.

I was trying to decide if I want to convince myself that this hair was just really really blonde. My friends and family on facebook assured me that it was IN FACT just blonde and I am VERY young. 🙂

First of all, blogging is always better with a good beverage! 😀 There are many, including what was in the homemade green cup with paper flowers my daughter made for me. But every once in awhile (ok, more often than that) momma needs something a little stronger.

Saw this sweater at Old Navy and think I might need to have it. 🙂

Me and my girl had a fabulous day of fun at the Imagination Station.

And then she kicked my butt at Rummy. Why do I even teach her how to play these games!!?? 😀

Saw this at Kroger and thinkng it should be something I may need to have on hand. 😉

This. Who wants to come organize this drawer for me? It’s giving me anxiety.

Guess I will use the upstairs bathroom. :/
