Post sponsored by Chung’s. All opinions remain my own.
We all know about Chung’s yummy Egg Rolls that have been in the frozen aisles at Kroger for many years, but their long-time fan favorite Vegetable Spring Rolls are now joining the Chicken and Vegetable Egg Rolls on the shelf! I LOVE Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls so this made me absolutely delighted. All packages come with Chung’s famous sweet and sour dipping sauce, which by the way, can now be purchased online!
I bet you are wondering what the difference is between the egg roll and spring roll.
Here is what I found out…
Spring rolls have a thinner, “batter like” wrapper and tend to be a little lighter color once cooked. Egg roll wrappers are thicker and actually do have a little bit of egg in them! The filling for egg rolls is mostly a mix of cabbage, celery, carrots and onions. Spring rolls also have cabbage, carrots, and onions, but they also use authentic Asian vermicelli and shitake mushrooms. Both heat up conveniently in 14 minutes or less, and even faster in an air fryer. Both have their own unique blends of Chung’s special spices. Spring rolls are a little smaller than egg rolls, but you also get an extra one in the package. Two for me, two for you, and one more for me!
From what I hear, Chung’s started out over 40 years ago making egg rolls for restaurants in Houston. I can attest that they have not lost their knack for making “restaurant quality” egg rolls and other Asian appetizers available around the country. They are a great snack that you can include on a party tray appetizer, lunch, or dinner side. We can only hope that Kroger adds some more of their delicious items to their shelves soon.
I’m so excited to share this new item with you because they are ALL kinds of yum. Chung’s is known for their gourmet quality, and their simplicity of getting tasty appetizers ready to go in no time.
