Make your OWN Poppy Seed Dressing!
It’s finally starting to feel like Spring 🌸 here in Ohio and I decided to celebrate that with this delicious Spring Strawberry Spinach Salad with homemade Poppy Seed Dressing. It was so good, I wanted to lick the bowl clean! I of course didn’t because I am a lady, but I definitely obnoxiously scraped the bowl with my fork until every last drop was finished. I’m not even sorry. 😋
Anytime I go out to eat, my first question is “do you have Poppy Seed dressing?”. It’s my all time fave. I hope you enjoy my version!
:: Poppy Seed Dressing Recipe
- 1/4 c Mayonnaise
- 1/4 c Vegetable Oil
- 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 3 TB Apple Cider Vinegar
- 3 TB Sugar
- 1 TB Sweet Onion
- 1 TB Poppy Seeds
- Salt and Pepper to taste
I know you’re supposed to be patient and combine everything and then s-l-o-w-l-y drizzle in the oil, but I doubled this recipe and impatiently put everything in the blender to combine, blended on high speed for about 20 seconds and BOOM – it was good to go! I actually forgot the salt & pepper and it tasted amazing without so I’ll probably s&p my finished salad instead if I feel like it’s needed.
:: For the Salad
- Baby Spinach and Baby Romaine Mix
- Strawberries, sliced
- Feta Cheese, crumbled
- Walnut pieces
- Bacon pieces
Seriously, it’s a salad. You don’t need measurements. If you don’t particularly like my salad blend, the best part is…you can use whatever you want! This is a AMERICA! 🇺🇸 Just throw it all together to your liking, add raw red onion if you want (but that’s gross), SMOTHER it all in that delicious poppy seed dressing and ENJOY! 😍 When you’re all finished, be sure to check your teeth in the mirror because these poppy seeds can be little devils and try to totally embarrass you in public. Or I guess these days, “public” is just your family so maybe it’s ok. 😁
All of these items can be added to your Kroger Pickup order, so put this salad on your meal plan for next week!

I have all the ingredients on hand except the feta cheese. I am so making this salad, thanks for sharing!
Oh…and don’t worry about people seeing poppy seeds (or spinach!) in your teeth in PUBLIC because you will be wearing a mask!
The only change I am making is omitting the mustard, which I hate, and adding more onion lol
