How Does Kroger Cash Back Work?
I’m so excited to talk to you about Kroger Cash Back.
This is a new rebate program similar to Ibotta (that we all love)! This is very new to Kroger so it’s still a learning process for me. I will be learning more and updating as I get more information so stay tuned. Be sure to sign up for my daily email to get these kind of updates emailed to you as soon as they happen!
UPDATE AS OF 2/5/20: It has come to our attention that Kroger has updated their Cash Back FAQs to now state that PAPER coupons also cannot be used with the cash back offers. This clause was added AFTER we wrote our initial tutorial and I recorded the video below, so please take note of that. We will no longer be stacking ANY coupons with Kroger Cash Back offers in order to keep in line with written policy. “Digital Coupons and Cash Back Offers may not be combined and are limited to one per item. Cash Back Offers and paper coupons may also not be combined on the purchase of a single item.”
UPDATE AS OF 7/2/19: After experimenting for a couple of weeks, we have some answers to questions, so I wanted to do a video explaining a bit more in depth on how exactly this works!!
What are Cash Back Offers and Rewards?
Kroger Cash Back is a new program where you can earn money on the items you buy everyday! Simply load the Cash Back Offer to your Shopper’s Card to redeem on qualifying purchases. Once you purchase the qualifying item for the Cash Back Offer, your balance will begin to accrue. You can then cash out your Cash Back Reward to your Shopper’s Card or PayPal account.
What is required to load Cash Back Offers?
To take advantage of a Cash Back Offer, you just need to create an account on Kroger’s account and register your Shopper’s Card. If you don’t have a digital account, click here.
What is required to redeem Cash Back Rewards?
To redeem Cash Back Rewards, you’ll need to log in to your account and cash out your available Cash Back Rewards via Shopper’s Card or PayPal. Please note, other members of your household cannot cash out your Cash Back Rewards. However, if cashing out to your Shopper’s Card, please be advised that other members of your household may be able to use your Cash Back Rewards on their next shopping trip.
How does cashing out my Cash Back Rewards to my Shopper’s Card work?
Your Cash Back Reward earnings can be transferred to your Shopper’s Card and you can choose the amount to load to your card up to $99.99 per day. The Cash Back Reward amount can be redeemed on your next shopping trip. If you do not use the full Cash Back Reward amount in one shopping trip, you can continue to use it in future shopping trips until you use all of the remaining amount. Cash Back Reward earnings cannot be applied to the purchase of fuel, gift cards, alcohol, pharmacy purchases, tobacco products, lottery, money services and fees.
How does cashing out my Cash Back Rewards to my PayPal account work?
Your Cash Back Reward earnings can be transferred to your desired PayPal account as soon as you’ve earned $20.00. Please note, you cannot cash out more than $99.99 per day.
You’ll then head to Kroger and pay for the items and within a week, your account will be credited. Be sure to read the coupon to see how many times you can redeem for cash back in one transaction.
How often can I cash out my Cash Back Rewards?
You are only allowed to cash out once within a 24-hour period for both your Shopper’s Card and PayPal account.
How does Cash Back work?
- View and select Cash Back Offers from Kroger.com or the Kroger app
- Purchase the qualifying item(s) in-store or online
- Be sure to scan your Shopper’s Card at the register in the store
- Once you have purchased the item, the Cash Back balance will be available for you to cash out. This can take up to 7 days.
To cash out:
- Select the Cash Back amount you would like to cash out
- Redeem via your Shopper’s Card or PayPal account
How many Cash Back Offers can I load to my Shopper’s Card?
A combined limit of 150 Cash Back Offers and Digital Coupons per household can be loaded at one time.
How can I view the Cash Back Offers that I have already loaded onto my Shopper’s Card?
After you’ve signed in to your digital account, click the “My Cash Back Offers” tab on the Cash Back Offers page to view the Cash Back Offers that have already been loaded to your Card.
How long does it take until my Cash Back Offers and Rewards are active on my Card?
Cash Back Offers are available as soon as you load them to your Card. Cash Back Rewards are available within a week of meeting the Cash Back Offer’s purchase requirement(s) (after you purchase the product).
My first time using cash back. I just bought 2 items that I checked off last night. I don’t see anything; not even pending.
If you send your cashback to your card, will you have the option to use it or not on your next purchase, or will it be deducted automatically? Also, have you noticed any pattern to when the cashback shows up as available on your account, like always on Wednesdays, or always 2 business days later?
I am confused about the “cashing out” process. I have $18.25 that I wanted to add to my shoppers card to use when I am in store, but when I click the cash out button, the next page shows the two options for cashing out (shoppers card and PayPal) and under each one is a different total! Under PayPal, it shows $18.25, but under my shoppers card it shows $0.75. What the heck is going on?!?
I am having the exact same issue as you are and it won’t even load to my shopper’s card.
There are cash back offers that are PayPal only. That could explain some of the issue. I started using the laptop vs. mobile version of the Kroger app and it worked better.
Is there any way to see what items you received cash back on? I feel I was shorted on several of my items, but see no way to verify the amount so received.
There is a filter called “Redeemed Deals” you can use to see what you’ve used.
Where is this filter “Redeemed Deals” located. I cannot find it. thanks.
Under “refine results.” You won’t see it anymore if the offer has expired, though.
is there any extra benefit of using cashback coupons vs. regular kroger ecoupons? especially now that we can’t use them at the same time?
Yes, If you use the cash back you can still use rebates from places like coupons.com where as if you use an e coupon and it is a mf coupon you wont be able to use coupons.com rebates also if you use the cash back you can combine it with a paper or a ip coupon but not an e coupon
I have problems with getting CashBack rewards to post to my account. When I call customer service, they are very nice, but a shopper doesn’t want to do this for every reward. I have $2.00 still waiting to post and it’s been a week. FYI: it’s always the rewards for purchasing “Adult Beverages” that causes the problems!! Thanks
I can’t figure out how to purchase wine using PAYPAL option? On the cash back site it says PAYPAL only for adult beverages but how do you make the purchase via PayPal?? I have scoured the internet and reached out to customer service with no answers. I tried adding to my cart for a pickup purchase but PAYPAL isn’t an option for payment, and I don’t think PAYPAL is an in-store option. ANY help is appreciated! THANK YOU
Hi Holly, the PayPal option means that you can only earn your cash back if you transfer it to your PayPal account. It can not be added to your shopper’s card to use as payment at Kroger. When you go through the process of redeeming your earned cash back, just choose PayPal and it will walk you through the process. You must have at least $20 to transfer to PP. Hope that helps!
THANK YOU for responding!!! I have been going crazy trying to figure this out! So I can just purchase as I would any other item and it’ll show up in my cash back total?? Then when I cash out to paypal the amount is included, but would NOT be included if I transfer to my Kroger card?
I kept thinking I had to make the initial PURCHASE using paypal,lol!!
Is there a way to see how much cashback (already earned and cashed out) is on the loyalty card (other than keeping records in the first place)?
I have $61 in cash back, but when I click “cash out” it literally won’t type a number. I can click the + to add ONE PENNY at a time! I have tried several browsers, and they all do the same thing. It pops up the window, but it won’t let me type anything over the zeros!! I’ll have to hit the plus sign six THOUSAND times to get to $60. Anyone else have this issue? Or any suggestions? I tried pasting a number in the field, but that didn’t work either.
Cynthia, are you using the numerical keypad on your keyboard? I had the same issue, but I was able to type using the number keys at the top of the keyboard.
Is your numbers lock key on your keyboard on or off?
Can you tell me how to use the cash back reward money which is loaded to your shopper;s card and paper coupons at the same time? For example , at a self checkout, the system will give you an option to use the cashback reward money on the card, when you hit ” Pay now ” , but it won’ give you option to use paper coupons after that or after you use paper coupon, it won’t give you an option to use the cashback reward money.
I tested this out at self checkout yesterday and after I used my Kroger Cash Back, the next screen gave me the coupon option, so I’m not sure why it’s not working for you. I would suggest going through the regular checkout lanes if you have both just to make sure you get optimal savings!! 🙂
Here you go again short changing your customers by not allowing coupons with your so called cash back discount. You keep finding ways to hurt your customers. I am still upset that you took my senior citizen discount away. You really only care about your bottom line profit.
What if I purchased an item without any coupons and I still didn’t receive the cash back. Where do I go to claim the offers? Is there a phone number?
What if you are missing some cash back offers you thought should have been applied with your last purchase. For instance, I should have $20 in cash back not $17.
How long does it take for your money to show up in your PayPal account when you withdraw it from your Kroger cash back
If I load a cashback offer and redeem it in one transaction can I use it again. The offer is still showing in my list but says sent to card so wondered if it was still active to use in another transaction. The Ibotta offers are there to reload but the Kroger cash back don’t seem to work the same way.
If it says something like “Can be redeemed maximum 5 times,” you can redeem it either all in one transaction or in separate transactions.
What do we do if we never receive the rebate?
Is there an expiration on cash back once it is downloaded in the loyalty card.
It specifically states that you cannot combine Kroger Digital Coupons & Cash Back. I also have yet to receive Kroger Cash Back for items that I also have added to Ibotta (aka double dipping). This requires more research and clarification, which has not been provided nor is accurate in this post and the comments.
I tried this out on two separate trips (few items each) at Dillons. I was able to get cash back after 2-3 days. I used self checkout with physical shopper card. No issue. One question I have is, for an item can be used up to 5 times, if I only bought 3 items, can I use the rest 2 on another trip?
I have not received any of the rebates in my cash back account that I purchased since em to my Kroger digital account. I should have gotten the Real Good pizza, Almond Breeze creamer and a couple others. What’s interesting is you can see your receipts and items on the Kroger app, and though I definitely paid for the rebate items on my paper receipt, they were listed differently on the app, as if they were generic items (I.e. Frozen Pizza).
I cashed out around 15.00 to mykroger card .. I cand fi d out it its on my card.. Where would i look.. On my card app in the cash back area it says 00.00.. Confused

I don’t think you should be such a strong advocate for Kroger Cash Back until they work out all the kinks and everyone is 100% guaranteed the cash back they deserve without having to contact Kroger customer service.
Please pass on to Kroger’s that with this new program the 150 ecoupon limit needs to be raised.

I have not received any rebates. I purchased them two weeks ago.
Got Cash back on two shopping trips. Thinking their program works, I went and made a large shopping haul, no cash back! I have been waiting over 2 weeks and have over $20 worth of cash back that they have not processed. I even called their customer service in India. Still no answers, they had no idea what I was talking about. Very disappointing that their roll out a program that they can’t support.
Saw this on the FAQ page on Kroger website. Wonder if this is why I have not received any cash back yet.

Does everyone get the same offers? I was wondering if it was based off items you have bought recently? I have 75c back on Hidden Valley ranch dips 10 oz. cups but when you see details it actually says this:

I wonder about this offer…..and it says UNLIMITED USE, expires 7-31

I have had to call Kroger customer service 3 times already for Cashback I didn’t receive. The first call took 40 min. The man was very nice but mine was only the second problems with Kroger cashback call he received. The second took 10 and the third was like 3 min. It is really the luck of the draw on who you talk to. Anyone who didn’t get their cashback you should call. They will add the money to your digital acct and it will be available to use immediately on your next purchase.
Still hoping I get alot of rebates back that I have done there but it has been almost 2 weeks and nothing. Do you think it makes a difference that I use my alternative ID (my phone number) instead of scanning an actual krogers card? I’ve done that for years and the digital coupons always work and I did get 1 rebate back doing it that way, but not about 6 others I should of gotten

I have not received any rebates even when I have bought that item multiple times. Still waiting, weeks later….
I got 2 rebates back, but didn’t get 4 others I should have. I’m sure they’re working out a lot of kinks, but I’m bummed I lost $24 I should have received on Real good pizzas.

Just wanted to update my response to this question for those just finding this post and reading through comments: Since this program launched, Kroger implemented that coupons CANNOT be used on a single item. The coupon will take preference over the cash back.
I went and checked out but not through self checkout. My money did not come off. The way it read I thought the money you transfer to your card went right away. Does this also take around 7 days?
