At my store, they were buy one get one free…so $1.99 each. Then the buy one get one free coupon was applied, so in the end, I paid $1.99 for both. $1 each.
At my store BOGO rings full price for the first one and second one 0. Saw that it didn’t work for others so I bought 4 instead. Two were free with sale and one free with ecoupon. Also had the 1.50 ecoupon from earlier merry day and that one was applied as well. So overall pretty good deal for me.

Why would it be any less? BOGO is buy 1 at $3.99 get one for $0. Seems to me the logical total should have been $3.99.
There is a deal at the store for buy one get one free which ends today and then we have the e coupon to combine with the sale.
