My mother is visiting from out of state this week and so I have done NO bargain shopping! I HAVE spent a lot of her money though. 😉
For this week’s Share Your Shopping, I thought I’d showcase, reader Jennifer’s Walgreens haul – especially since she took the time to send me the picture and a WAY TOO ORGANIZED spreadsheet outlining her savings. (yes, I’m jealous of her organization)
Jennifer and her husband (who is also addicted to couponing) did 12 transactions, rolling their Register Rewards. Their total out of pocket was ONLY $31 for $180 worth of stuff!! They also wanted to mention they did NOT clear the shelves, which is always appreciated. 🙂
View the spreadsheet with the transactions details here.
Your turn. What great deals did you get this week at Walgreens or any other store?

I appreciate the comment by the person who works at Wlgreens but each store is different. My store lets me order and lets me check out as many times as it needs to be. I’ve done 50 transactions before in one visit…and so has many other local people. it all depends on your store. As far as other customers, they just let them know “this” will take a long time and up front is someone who can check you out.
And, I am not able to make repeated
trips to the stores…kds, work, life., it’s more than jsut making another trip.

I also have cleared the shelves at small stores like rite aid and Walgreens. In fact just this week I cleared Walgreens shelf of Finish detergent (buying 4) and Rite Aid of Lysol wipes (buying 4)and Wet Wipes(buying 2). How many times have I come for a deal and it has been gone, oh well the early bird catches the worm, it’s not as if I bought 20 of a product.

Hmmm clearing the shelves at Walgreens? They usually have such a small inventory that yes I do sometimes clear the shelf but that means buying 2 of an item…. I also roll rewards but I am very conscientious of any one in line. Most of the time I shop in the middle of the night and no line. The cashiers all know me and if anyone else is shopping we let them go ahead of me. Day or night we should be respectful of the other shoppers. It would also be nice if Walgreens didn’t have just one cashier sometimes to handle a big line. I shopped the other day during the day and the lady in front of me was buying the clearance Christmas stuff and she had a full cart. It took forever. I felt bad for her and the cashier and all of us in line. She had every right to buy all that stuff and shouldn’t have to feel bad.

plus we have two other walgreens so we hit them too.

We did not do all one transaction. we went several trips we did not tie up the restiger. i guess i wrote it wrong but i did not roll all at once at all. we also talk to the cashiers and have relationships where they cash us out at the cosmetic counter. I wanted to make that clear we didnt do 12 all at once. we used the RR for the next transaction we did. It was me and my husband and we did one transaction went to the car and did it again. we live an hour away and it wasnt all at once. i assure you we didnt hold up any line thanks.

(1) 8 roll pack of Bounty paper towel
(1) Tub wet ones
(1) Box zipper sandwich bags
(1) Gas X 18 ct

I paid $5.43 OOP after paying with coupons and my +upRewards. I received $4 in +upRewards back! This was a stock up week. I had a bunch of rewards expiring, so I figured it was a good time to stock up on some stuff!

I went to Walgreens and got two Bayer Contour USB meters for free plus free stuff. Bayer Contour meters are on sale for $9.99 and I got a $20 off coupon from the manufacturers website. Well, the manager that I talked to when I went in there said that I would need to get more stuff from the store to make up the difference. Usually they would just mark the coupon down to $9.99, making the item free. So, in that case, I got 4 packages of $5.00 each Scott toilet paper for free. What an awesome deal.

Air Wick Compacts were 50% off at my Walgreens making them $3.99. I used my $4 Air Wick coupons and got two of them for free! I also had bogo refill coupons so I snagged a few of those to get refills for my new Air Wick compacts. I love them. GREAT deal.

I purchased 2 10 oz bottles of palmolive dish soap out of pocket .38 and CVS gave me 1.00 for scanning my recycle leaf.
This is not normally dish soap week but I could not pass it up.

I work at my local Walgreen’s. And while I myself also coupon I don’t roll my coupons out of respect for the people who would also like to check out. You can always use them the next week or next day. You still save regardless. But 12 transactions takes a long time to ring up. And I’m fast at ringing up the coupon Queens. As I said, I coupon myself. But what you don’t realize is the time your taking up from us as well. There are other customers would might have questions, need help or just want to get checked out so they can go home. I now ring all of my order up at once and then use my RR on my next purchases. I still save the money, just not always on the current shopping trying I’m on. But that way there is no pressure on the cashier (which is usually me) or others waiting. I go to the cosmetic counter, which is where I work at anyways. But this way I don’t have others standing in line behind me. Not saying that you don’t have to roll your coupons. It is just a big hassle. We will always do it though if the customer wants. And I am always really nice to the couponer. Not because I cut coupons myself, but because I like to see how they save. But then even in cosmetics we can get a line of others, and some need our help. Granted we are ringing you up. If you don’t have a lot of cosmetic items it looks like were not doing our job. So next time you go out couponing. Try doing 1 or 2 large or really small orders, and use those RR next time. Just make sure they aren’t from the same company =) Enjoy and have fun! =)
