It’s another installment of My Week in Pictures! Here’s what I found on my phone from this week…ENJOY! 🙂
First of all, I’m sorry I skipped this post last week but I was KNEE deep in Mega Event deals and needed to get that list completed instead of scanning through my phone pics. That is, afterall WHAT I DO! 🙂
Sooo…the HUGE HUGE thing going on in my life this week is that my daughter Kambell started attending a private Montessori school! She is a big 2nd grader and we had previously homeschooled her, but decided to enroll her in this amazing school for many many reasons that I won’t get into here. I thought I would be so sad, but I am so very excited for her. She absolutely LOVES it and so do I! 🙂 I wish every child had this experience to be their awesome little selves while still learning.
Our refrigerator broke this week. Fortunately it was just a part that needed replacing, but we were still without it for a couple of days. Lived out of a cooler…so that was FUN! 🙂 It was cold enough that I could just put things that didn’t fit in the cooler – like my coffee creamer – right outside the backdoor and I was feeling like a real hardcore camper girl. #umhaveyoumetme?
I did get to clean underneath the fridge though which is always a treat. And when you have 5 cats, there are always all kinds of goodies to be found!!
And then when the freezer is empty, the “winter” Barbie’s must make themselves at home! I also included some more random Barbie pictures that somehow make it onto my phone. I just want to wash my hands…or take a shower…and use a bowl. 😀
I didn’t have a choice, right? RIGHT??!!! Must feed my newly discovered cat shirt obsession.
I did NOT buy this shirt, but I am totally regretting it because it really speaks to me. I’m sure it has something to do with running or something, but for me – I really DO love what I do and do what I love. I don’t think many people can say that, so I do consider myself lucky. I love my blog, I love the community we’ve built. I just love what I do. 🙂
Sorry Orchid People!! The Orchid has kicked the bucket! I took this picture a few days ago and these 2 last pitiful petals have since fallen off. I even did 3 ice cubes trick some of you recommended and opened the blinds for light. Then one day I just sat there and watched flower and flower fall to the desk. If you don’t already know…I kill orchids. I need a t-shirt for that. Or at least a bumper sticker or a hashtag or something. #IkillOrchids – Let’s see if it catches on. If you have not been following the life of this poor orchid, be sure to check out this video and this one too. Wait until you see what I have planned for the next video…it won’t die!! 🙂
Behind the scenes of my Kroger Mega Event video!! Had sooooo much fun doing this one!!
Once again, my friends opened their home to me and treated me like a royal princess. It’s all about the FOOD (and drink!) when I visit! 🙂 And they have an awesome cat. BONUS!
This weekend I attended a blogging conference called Blogging Concentrated in Cincinnati where I learned so much about how better to serve my readers. There was a LOT of snow, which I’m totally used to…but what I am NOT used to is trying to get my car to go up those HILLS in snow! That was rough…like my car did NOT want to GO!…but I made it safe and sound! In addition to learning lots, I also got to meet up with other bloggers who I’ve been in contact with…some of which I’ve NEVER met in person, specifically Tammy with Lady Savings (your Giant Eagle Expert!) and her husband Mr. Lady Savings. We have “chatted” online for the last 3 years or so, so it was amazing to finally get to meet her in person! She was just like I imagined = awesome! And short, like me. 🙂
Well, those were this week’s tidbits!! How was your week? Let us know in the comments below.

Hi Katie. Thanks for all the great deals that you posted from Kroger. I’m a single mom with two daughters and I need all the help I can get. Besides Kroger , do you find any other deals at other stores? Please share them with me. By the way, I love your pictures.
Katie
Hi Lisa! So glad I can help save your family money. I actually ONLY shop at Kroger. I rarely shop anywhere else, and certainly do not keep up other store deals. Kroger keeps me busy enough. 🙂 Let me know what stores you are looking for deals on, and I can recommend a few blogs for you. 🙂
tonya
Hehe you have a mini me.. she looks just like you.. well minus the cute missing tooth.. 🙂 adorable ..
Katie
Thanks Tonya! 🙂
Tricia
We have an orchid also and it does the same thing but it always blooms again. (Thanks to my husband.) I am like you, I kill every plant I touch so I let my husband take care of it and he will continue to do whatever he does and we get new blooms. So don’t give up on it! 🙂
Katie
Nice to meet a fellow BLACK thumb-er Tricia!! I should totally put someone else in charge of the orchid. 🙂
Roci R
I do not have a green thumb, but got my first orchid last fall b/c they are so beautiful. The flowers eventually fell off just like yours, but I still loved the large green leaves and just kept feeding it 3 ice cubes every week. Guess what – it has bloomed again! Plus it is the only plant I have ever had that none of my cats munch on.
Katie
Thanks Roci!! I will not lose hope then!!

Thanks for coming to our event Katie. We love how much you support us. We wouldn’t be nearly as successful without your help. 🙂
David
When it comes to house plants try plastic. Haven’t lost a plant yet. They require little care.
Katie
HAHA!! Best advice I’ve received David! 🙂

Don’t give up on the orchid! If the leaves are still green and healthy looking, just keep doing the 3 ice cubes every week or two, wipe any dust off the leaves with a damp paper towel, and drain any excess water after the ice melts. After they bloom, orchids go through a period where they look like they’re on the verge of death. It may take about a year, but it should bloom again as long as you take care of it.
Katie
Thanks for the advice Kristi!! I will keep ice cubing it then!!
Korey Robison
The barbies in the freezer pic is just plain creepy. It looks like a morgue filled with the cast of Desperate Housewives.
Katie
HAHA! They really ARE creepy Korey!

What a BEAUTIFUL, FULL week!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m jealous…but not of the refrigerator issue. We had that not too long ago and it was a HUGE loss, because it wasn’t cold enough to put anything outside. Oh, and my freezer used to house lego men in ice, because my son just loved freezing them and busting them out (freeing them)!!!
Adorable little girl!
Katie
Thanks Amy! 🙂
