Looks like another region has joined the no doubling band wagon. This time, a Kroger affiliate store – Dillons has confirmed that they are no longer doubling coupons.
For those of you in this area (which encompasses stores in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska) – this policy change will be taking effect starting August 20th. That means your paper coupons will only be accepted at FACE value.
Official Statement:
In an effort to provide all of our customers with the most value for their dollar, we’re implementing a New Lower Prices program. Effective August 7, we’re reducing prices on thousands of everyday items that you and your family rely on. To make this possible, on August 20, we’re discontinuing our practice of doubling (up to 50 cents and rounding to $1.00) manufacturer coupons in Dillons stores. We will continue to accept manufacturer coupons and other coupons at face value, including digital coupons, e-coupons, Catalina coupons and printable coupons.
We truly believe these changes reflect our efforts in providing the best shopping experience to all of our customers. We hope that you’ll come in and see our new low prices as well as the many other ways to save.
• Downloadable, clip-free coupons daily on www.Dillons.com/digitalcoupons
• Weekly sales and special sales events, such as Mega Event and Cart Busters
• Fuel savings program that offers up to $1 off per gallon when you redeem up to 1,000 fuel points at Dillons Fuel Centers and Kwik Shops
• Loyal customer mailings containing customized coupons
• Faster checkouts
The regions that no longer double coupons are as follows:
- Southwest
- Delta
- Mid-Atlantic
- Central
- Cincinnati
- Dillons (affiliate store)
Before you vow to boycott Kroger altogether, I encourage you to go through my posts from the last few weeks and notice that the MAJORITY of deals do not require any doubling. You may find that even after taking off the extra $0.50 or $0.60 out of the equation, you may still consider the final cost a stockup price. Of course if you need to vent, feel free to do so in the comments below. I just prefer to come from a place of yes. 🙂

If you plan accordingly and shops the sales, Kroger still offers very good deals and I am still able to get items for free without doubling coupons. I shop other places as well, but try to hit Kroger up every 2 weeks to redeem the Free Friday coupons and get some other sales and freebies.
My Kroger stopped doubling this Spring, and the “new lower prices” have already risen back to the original price on a lot if their products. Some have stayed low, but not many . It also cracks me up that at the bottom of my receipt it says you saved 50.00 with our new lower prices, but this number includes all my coupons, and their weekly sale savings- which I don’t consider a new lower price, since it goes back up after the week ends!
I don’t think any of us go to Dillons/Kroger and just pillage the double-coupon sale items. I always buy a bunch of other stuff, too, and they make —so— much money off of me by offering the occasional free toothbrush or pantyliner (with a coupon).
I’m not going to boycott or pass up the really good deals, but I will shop elsewhere for staples. Ultimately, Dillons will make a lot less money off of me by changing this policy.
I’m a Dillons shopper here in Kansas, I knew this was coming as they have been changing to the “New Lower Price” tags in my store the past couple of months, I just didn’t know it was going to be this soon. I’m going to start shopping for a new place to shop that takes double coupons.
Are they really losing out that much on double couponing that they need to stop it? Meijers claimed it was only 5% of coupons were double. So whats the harm. I just dont get it. The prolly just dont like the fact that people are getting things for free. 🙁 Boo on them
If Kroger does this in Michigan, I will no longer shop there regularly. I will continue to check in here and compare prices, but will plan on shopping elsewhere on a weekly basis. I’m hoping this will not be the outcome. The double coupon policy is what brought me to Kroger. : (
Meijer also just announced in the Columbus/Great Lakes area they are stopping doubling as well. While it doesnt affect me much, I am worried Kroger will follow suit. I save so much money with coupon doubles, it will be a big blow to a lot of people 🙁

Are all Dillons not doubling anymore?
I’m a little confused. Do they quit doubling on Aug. 7 or Aug. 20? Their statement makes it sound like Aug. 20.
The new “low prices” go into affect on the 7th and they will discontinue doubling on the 20th.
That’s what I thought. Katie might want to change the title.
My local Gerbes store in Columbia, Missouri posted on their Facebook page today that they will no longer double coupons beginning August 20 🙁

I am from Columbia, MO, too and I JUST found out tonight about the no doubling policy at my Gerbes. I am so sad! Let’s hope it does not change our savings that much! At least today, only one item out of 5 was a $.50 coupon…. We will survive! 🙂
