Visit the Kroger Coronavirus Update Page for the full statement from Kroger’s CEO. Here is a partial excerpt when I am logged into my Kroger account:
- Cleaning commonly used areas more often, including cashier stations, self-checkouts, credit card terminals, conveyor belts and food service counters, and cleaning shelves when restocking products.
- Sanitizing restrooms more frequently and restocking with supplies, including soap, paper towels and hand sanitizer.
- Adding extra hand sanitizer at cashier stations, food service counters, and all Pharmacy, The Little Clinic and Starbucks locations.
- Wiping down shopping carts, baskets and equipment.
- Partnering with our suppliers to replenish high-demand preparedness products.
- Continuing to provide our customers with free disinfectant wipes at our store entrances to sanitize their shopping carts or baskets.
- Following best practices for safe food handling, as always.
Again, please check your local store to see if your hours were adjusted. We will update everyone on any further changes as we get information, so stay close and stay healthy!

It would be great if the senior hours were actually for seniors. I went on Wednesday and there were quite a few you never than senior age people shopping.
Kris
FYI…. I’m not sure if this is global change or just for the Southeast. However, the Kroger Coronavirus page is now showing “UPDATED DAILY STORE HOURS: Sunday-Saturday 8AM-9PM”.
Kris
Looks like it’s just the Southeast. I found another page with the following breakdown:

Why doesnt kroger and affiliates open one hour earlier for the senior citizens in our community. Selfish people making are most vulnerable suffer.

If these hours make it difficult to shop, please try Clicklist shopping. You can use your paper and e-coupons, select a pickup time (any time within an hour), and do it from the security of your own home. Clicklist shoppers will be taking great care with sanitation, probably better than most of us, and you will be dealing with only one person.
ALSO! Order home delivery! It’s a bit more restrictive on coupons (the website explains this), but is great for non-perishable items.
Kroger offers peace-of-mind shopping. Relax! They know what they’re doing! ♥

You can not use your coupons with clicklist. When you are out of products that we have a coupon for you substitute it with a higher priced product that doesn’t have a coupon. I used to shop clicklist but no more. I tried to get my Friday freebie and then had to pay for the substitution because it was out of stock. I even put in notes about substituting products that had coupons but nobody knows how to read these days so it doesn’t work. I ended up paying way more than I had budgeted every time I used clicklist so now I just go in the store and shop. No heart attacks when you see the bill.

Smith’s are 8 AM to 10 PM. The shelves are bare. No rice or beans, of course, no TP and little water.
Marisela
This is only for the Kroger stores that are usually open 24 hours. All other Kroger stores still have their regular business hours.

Kroger stores management you are to be commended with this decision! You are looking out for the safety of the public and your staff! This may be a hard lesson to learn by everyone that businesses need to close at night to refresh the areas and restock with just staff! I worked at Walmart for 13.5 years and when I started we closed at 11pm and reopened at 7am. People were more likely to stay home and children could actually sleep at night and adults weren’t out as much. Didn’t spend time out getting in to as much trouble! Please to all businesses consider closing again at night! Thanks and stay healthy!

Lucinda
Great to know you are using extra precautions to keep your customers safe. Thank you so very much!!
Rachel
This may be a dumb question but is this all the Kroger’s or just certain ones I’m from Ohio so I was just wondering thanks.
:)
Incorrect information. Kroger is leaving the decision to management.
