My Rite Aid Rep just emailed me the newly updated Rite Aid Coupon Policy.
Here is the direct link to the policy. I suggest printing it and keeping it with you when Rite Aid shopping.
The major changes I see are in regards to BOGO Free coupons and promotions:
- Rite Aid accepts Buy One, Get One Free coupons, however only one coupon can be used for each pair of items purchased.
- A customer can use one “cents off” coupon in conjunction with the item they are purchasing on a Buy One Get One Free promotion (or with a Buy One Get One Free coupon), although the value of the cents off coupon cannot exceed the selling price of the item.
- Buy One Get One Free coupons cannot be used in conjunction with a Buy One Get One Free promotion.
Also, they are now limiting your “like” coupons to 4.
I’d love to hear your thoughts…

What am I missing? (I don’t have a Rite Aid.) Rite aid used to let you use 2 BOGO for the same set of products? Also, if you look at P&G coupons they started putting that a company could only accept 4 like coupons at a time. Anyway, I think their changes sound reasonable and are not that different than many other stores.

I have to admit I was already getting fed up with Rite Aid even before this announcement. Today makes the 3rd time in the past 2 months that I’ve seen a really good deal in the ad for products I use regularly, only to get to the store and find that they don’t even carry the product they advertised.
It’s one thing for the store to be sold out, but to not even have a spot on the shelf for it in the first place? And it’s like this at all the RAs in my region because I’ve been to them all just in case.
It just really bothers me knowing that they have the ability to put out ads specific to the area, yet they choose to continue advertising items that they never even intend to have in stock.

Rite Aid is the only major store I have in my town so I have LOVED being able to shop there a save a lot. Their deals where you have to spend $25.00 to get $5.00 in up rewards FORCE you to buy a lot of one or two certain products. So I blame RA for that kind of deal that clears their shelves quickly. I am disappointed about the BOGO policy change! 🙁 I have noticed also that my store sometimes has the price higher than you mention in your deals. I will just have to wait and see how this all works out now. Still love RA so I will still shop there.

In the scheme of things, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Maybe it helps some to come on here and complain.
If someone wants more than 4 identical items using coupons, just do two separate orders. Or come back the next day. Get rainchecks if they are out of product.
I wish the BOGO policy did not change, but understand why it did. But, just put it into perspective: What percentage of the things that you purchased at Rite Aid in the past were BOGO? Just purchase those items elsewhere for potential better savings (or use UpR’s!). Keep optimistic and adapt to their changes! 🙂

There went my favorite store. the BOGO change sucks big time! I don’t know if the show is the reason for the change but it has had me worried that something bad would happen in the couponing world 🙁
Angie
The problem in our area is the convience stores going in 1st thing Sunday morning and cleaning the shelves off taking the items back to their stores marking the prices up and making a huge profit! I do like the 4 like coupon policy but the only thing that’s going to happen is they are going to bring more of their family members with them!
Crystal
BOO! It makes me sad that with couponing getting the spotlight, that more people are out abusing the system. And the stores are retaliating by policy changes. I don’t mnd the limiting of like coupons, it’s only fair to allow other people the chance to get the great deals, but the BOGO changes are pretty significant 🙁

I knew that TLC show would start problems-who really needs 60 bottles of mustard? And a thank you to the shoppers who created the TP frenzy a few months ago–because of the bad behaviour of a few greedy shoppers, the honest couponers trying to stretch their money will now pay the price.

Tracy, I couldn’t agree with you more. The extreme couponers in my area have ruined it for the money saving moms as well. I can’t tell you how often I would go into Rite Aid or Walgreens on a Sunday and found empty shelves already! I have to get rain checks literally everytime and when i finally complained to the manager about planning bette for sales They said it’s two woman who come in and clean out the shelves every Sunday morning at open. He says often they are waiting outside for doors to open. That infuriates me because I know those items just sit in a “stock pile” (hoard room) for years and I needed them then. I just get 2 products when I go for these things. I then have to continue to stop into Rite Aid throughout 30 days time to try and grab those items while in stock. I appreciate that they are limiting customers to 4 like coupons. Spread the wealth and quit the hoarding.
I’m bummed to hear they’ve also ruined bogo for everyone. Yes, I blame the show and the extreme couponers who hoard. Although I’m torn because I appreciate the ones who do all the planning and work to gather free items to give to those in need. Still frustrating that we are now seeing the repercussions of this tlc show and greed.

I also wrote them in regards to the new policy change……everyone should do the same. Maybe it will make a difference. I like to shop at rite aid, because it’s within walking distance from home.

Just when I was starting to fall in love with Rite-Aid, they had to go and change their coupon policy…I am less than thrilled to hear this news. I think Target is going to get a lot more of my business! Their prices seem to be lower and I’ve never had a problem using BOGO coupons, plus they always have EVERYTHING in stock!!
Tracy
I NEVER shopped at Rite Aid until I found your blog with the great deals. Now even THEY won’t let shoppers get a deal or two.
THANKS A LOT EXTREME COUPONERS. FOR RUINING IT for a few money saving, hobby-shopping moms.
I think Rite Aid will see a drop in couponers…which I’m sure were their biggest shoppers. Really…didn’t you stop in to Rite Aid WHEN YOU REALLY NEEDED SOMETHING, sale or not, bc of the great deals you always got all the other times? Hmmm…Target, Walgreens, CVS, Meijers…??? Where will I be focusing my purchases? NOT RITE AID!

I desired to be proactive and write Rite Aid, there email address is on the website. I wrote the Board of directors and suggested the rethink the BOGO 1 coupon part of the new policy.
I think it might be good if they receive a lot of emails about this new policy and realize they can loose customers over it.
P
I have heard this from my rite aid for a couple of months. They were confused on the memo’s that they were getting and rite aid never sent a new policy when I asked. It’s not just the show, Walgreens told me they were told the reason they (corporate) limited the RR’s was because of posts from coupon sites.
Melissa
Don’t blame Rite Aid, blame TLC. All of these changes that the stores are having didn’t happen until that show. I personally have only watch 1 episode and that was the very first one prior to what’s on now and I won’t nor will I ever watch it again. If everyone would stop watching it then the ratings would be low and it should go off the air.
Cindy Waddill
I will be shopping less at Rite aid from now on, because it sounds like there will not be that many good deals any more. it was bad enough that their BOGO deals were more expensive to start with, so much so that you paid extra with a BOGO coupon to make up the difference a lot of the time.
Not to only accept 1 coupon on BOGO deals instead of 2..forget it! They elevate the price when they have these deals…nope they will lose customers!

I was wondering with all the B1G1 on sale this week what they accepted. Now I know, THANKS K
Noel S
I think the Degree deodorant deal this week may have did them in. Especially in conjunction with the crazy Breathe Right coupon fiasco.

Grr. I hate extreme couponing!
dianne
i agree heather…….dont like it. the coupon show on tv in ruining it for everyone……………
Heather
Not too excited about this. I think we’ll be seeing fewer hot deals there now. 🙁
